  3. Practice living on a budget- Downsizing your budget early also means you'll be able to pay off your debts and save more for your down payment

  4. Get your handy ON- Once you become a homeowner, If something breaks you're the one footing the bill for repairs. To keep costs down, you'd better learn some basic maintenance before your ankle deep in toilet water.

  5. Do your homework- Learn about the local real estate market as best you can before buying. Ask your agent. Browse online to get a sense of what's available in your price range.


            With these good habits established, you'll be in great shape to buy a home next year.
