How to Update your Home Even if You’re a Beginner

Well, the winter months are keeping us cozy inside here on the east coast and after 2020 we are tired of looking at the same four walls. What better way to help beat the blues than updating and refreshing your home!

“But, Meg...I am not handy!” Never fear, there are plenty of ways to update your home even as a beginner.

Build Your Own Gallery Wall

You know THAT blank wall. You know the one. It is on the wall just inside your entry but before you hit the living room. Let’s fill it! Something as simple as adding a gallery wall to any space in your home can be daunting but actually very simple. Click the link below to learn step by step how to create a gallery wall that not only looks great but can be added to as your adventures unfold in 2021.

A Plant Shelf

Plants? Really? Yes. Absolutely. I have recently become obsessed with the hashtag #plantshelfie on Instagram. And even if you haven’t, every good plant parent needs awesome indoor plant shelf ideas to show off their plant babies! To help you with some inspo here are some links to a few Instagram accounts to get your very own plant shelf ideas.  I am also including a photo of my own #plantshelfie as the doting “plant mom” I am, #plantmomforlife.

Removable Wallpaper

What year is it!? The wallpaper of old has fallen out of fashion in the past few decades, and honestly who can blame us. The prep, glue, commitment, and do not get me started on the removal. This is not your Nana’s wallpaper. Modern wallpaper is bright, fun, and fresh—you can find everything from bold oversized florals to edgy textured crocodile prints—and did I mention removable?

Today, removable wallpaper is all the rage, perfect for any DIYer to install, and comes down without any steaming or scraping—all you have to do is peel it off the wall! Most removable wallpaper is what’s called “peel and stick,” meaning it works like a big sticker. A colorful way to spruce up your home without the commitment! Check out some of my personal favorites below!
