DIY Yard Projects You Can Tackle While You Have Time On Your Hands
Spring has sprung in most of the country. With the stay at home order in place for at least the next few weeks what better way to use your time than to tackle some garden projects. Don't have a garden yet? Plan out some space for flowers and veggies. There are online resources you can use to help plan the space and then order some seeds so you're ready to plant.
Clean up from winter, now is the time to be sweeping up the dirt and dust on your patios and balconies. If you have a larger yard, start by picking up sticks, leaves and pine cones from this past winter. Prune any damaged or dead limbs from bushes and clean up around your perennial plants or shrubs.
Prep your planters by cleaning them and checking them for cracks. Scrub your outdoor furniture even if it's been in storage. Dishwashing soap works well and if you have wicker furniture you may try using Murphy's oil soap mixed with some water.
Take some time to also go through your workbench or toolshed to clean any garden tools you have. Scrub the shovels and rakes for dirt and rust.
Now is the time to also refresh your mailbox. Fix any blemishes and give it a fresh coat of paint and if your numbers are looking a little shabby, add some new ones too. Brighten up the area around the base with bright colored annuals.
Enjoy this time you have, it won't last forever and before you know it you'll be back to the daily grind in no time!
